Nothing is perfect, least of all, the criminal justice system. If you or a loved one has been tried and convicted of a crime, you are painfully aware of this fact.
Errors can occur in all phases of a criminal case. Some errors are so severe that you may be entitled to an acquittal or new trial—but only if you file an appeal. I can help. Contact me today by filling out the online form or call my office at (225) 343-5059.
If you have just been convicted, now is the time to consider filing an appeal. An appeal is the process through which you ask a higher court to review the conviction and sentence rendered in a lower court. An appeal is made solely “on the record” established in the lower court, which means no new evidence will be considered and no witnesses will be heard. Your attorney on appeal will argue why the result reached in the lower court is unjust, illegal, and should be reversed or remanded.
For more information on appeals, see the Appeals FAQ section.
